The main body of the cathedral was completed in 38 years, from 1220 to 1258. It boasts of the tallest church spire in the UK, at 404 feet tall. The West Front's facade includes over 130 niches containing 73 statues arranged in a hierarchy - at the top, angels and archangels and at the bottom royalty and priests.
