Animals are one of my favourite things to draw, so naturally I welcome commissions for pet portraits. You can have a look at some of my past work above to get an idea of the style of work you would receive.
How much will it cost?
I work digitally so the size doesn't affect the price as much as it might for a pen and ink or watercolour drawing.
Price for a single pet drawing (one unframed fine art print A4 or A3 size): £135
Price for two pets, either in one composition or separately (one or two unframed fine art print(s) A4 or A3 size): £240
Price for a single pet drawing (one unframed fine art print at A2 size - 420x597mm): £170
Price for two pets in a single print at A2: £275
For portraits of more than two pets, please get in touch to discuss pricing.
Prices exclude the cost of postage, you can choose whether you pay for tracked delivery or standard first class. International shipping is available at cost price.
What will I receive?
The price above includes a single copy of an unframed, signed and dated fine art print. The work will not be reproduced, so you will own the only copy.
How long will it take?
Depending on workload, I can usually produce pet portraits within three weeks of the order date and deposit payment. This may be longer around Christmas, but I'm happy to provide you with a predicted timeline.
How do I make an order?
We can then discuss what you would like and confirm any details. I will also confirm the price of your artwork (this may vary from the standard prices above if you require additional elements like props or a background).
If you are happy to proceed, you will then be asked to pay a deposit of 40% of the agreed price, and once cleared, this will secure your booking and the commitment to work towards a particular deadline.
Once completed, I will send you a low res file of the artwork to confirm you are happy. At this stage minor alterations can be made, including text additions or background colour changes. A second draft will be sent to you if changes were required.
You will then be invoiced for the remaining balance plus the cost of postage and your pet will be carefully packaged, before making its way to you in the post!
Take the photo in consistent natural light to ensure your pet’s colouring is true to life and no parts are in dark shade/bright light. Please avoid using flash for the same reason.
Ensure your pet is in proportion and taken at a reasonable distance, big noses or tails are very cute but not that helpful when capturing a likeness!
Try to capture an image of your pet sitting still, blurry photos are very difficult to work from!
Please ensure the photo is a high resolution – an iPhone camera (7 and above) is usually fine, but the clearer the better.
It’s helpful to know the breed of your pet, so I can check reference photography and have a clearer idea of their relative build.
If there are elements you would like to exclude (collar/muddy paws) or include (toys/collar/muddy paws), then just let me know and I will do my best to include them. I will require additional photographs of toys and accessories if this is the case and please note, this may incur an additional cost.
If you would like to add a background to the portrait, this may be possible, but will incur an additional cost depending on the complexity. Please note, if you opt for a plain background, you can choose any colour that suits your home at no extra charge.
If you would like a single composition with multiple pets, you don’t need to have them in a single photograph, as long as I have separate clear images, I will be able to piece this together. However, I may require additional information like measurements to ensure relative sizing is correct. This may incur further costs.
